Dress Code – Light Up The Night | Dress Code sits with us for an interview

Dress Code just dropped a new single, and it’s a bomb!
His newest anthemic, feel-good, eclectic electronic single ‘Light Up The Night’ is driven by a refreshing and catchy vocal. The drops offer sharp electronic synths that will have you grooving. The beat delivers infectious percussion and a speaker-rattling house bassline. ‘Light Up The Night’ will put you in a good vibes trance with its motivating, atmospheric, and hard-hitting instrumentation.
Up The Night’ will light up your summer, as it is a must-listen release.

We’ve sat with Dress Code to know more about him and his project, let’s listen to the track, and scroll down.

Introduce Yourself, how did you come by your stage / band / brand name?

I’m Derek Holley from Dayton, Ohio, and I produce and perform as the band name Dress Code.
I got the idea for the name as an irony because I’m a fan of and have been influenced by different styles of music from dance/electronic to rock and funk instead of only one style.

When did you discover your love for music production and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career as a DJ/Music producer?
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

I went from playing drums and trying to start bands to learning other instruments and later got into wanting to write and produce my own tracks, then I started recording on home muliti-track machines and software.
I like to mix computer-based recording with live instruments.

My style comes from listening to different kinds of music.
I like dance music, but I also like rock and funk-style guitar and bass.

how did you come up with the idea for your new song?

The new song is the title track of my EP, “Light Up The Night”.
I got the idea for it after it was cloudy and dark for almost a week before the sun finally came back, and turned it into a song about sticking with goals and not letting things distract you.

What are your plans for the near future?

Plans right now are to keep spreading the word about the EP and possibly get into music licensing.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank?

Thanks to everyone for listening and streaming my tracks.

What suggestions do you have for other artist like yourself?

Have fun on the creative side, but also learn the business side.

How can fans find you?
