FIRST BANX & RANX PARLOPHONE SINGLE ‘LIT’ IS OUT NOW

From the thunderous drops of dubstep to tropical house’s love of acoustic instrumentation, the electronic music scene is always craving its latest bold reinvention. By concocting a cocktail of Caribbean sounds with big pop hooks, trap and the thumping energy of EDM, BANX & RANX are set to be at the forefront of Montreal’s burgeoning music scene.

Recently signed to ParlophoneBANX & RANX have today released their debut single ‘Lit’ which perfectly encapsulates their cross-genre attack, with rumbling dub bass, a flood of creative production embellishments, trap drops and a striking attitude-heavy topline courtesy of Ayak Thiik.

Directed by Patrick Antoniewicz for Sixteen Pads, the accompanying video for the track was shot in the duo’s home of Montreal. Featuring cameos from a variety of the city’s characters – including producers, dancers, artists, comedians, and rappers such as Shash’Uand Rymz  the video explores Montreal’s gritty nocturnal atmosphere in all its glory, from shady street corners to the striking neon lights of its nightlife.

BANX & RANX – Soké and KNY Factory – have both enjoyed an unconventional journey which seems perfectly fitting for their equally unconventional approach.

Born in France to an Indian father and a FrenchCanadian mother, KNY Factory was raised in Guadeloupe, a French island territory located in the Caribbean. Raised on ragga, reggae and disco/funk, a move to Canada enabled him to delve further into his passions – house, hip-hop, dubstep, trap and other electronic music with a tropical and dancehall flavour – as he also focused more on his solo productions and his own albums.

In a parallel existence, Soké’s early interests evolved at a precocious rate. He started producing electronic music in his early teens and was soon deejaying at illegal rave parties, before his interests evolved into hip-hop, reggae, dancehall and the street art scene.

After joining forces, the duo have been in-demand producers for artists including Sean PaulLady Leshurr, Nicky Jam and Tiggs Da Author – many of whom feature on the recent BANX & RANX mixtape Digital Dread Mix Session Vol. 2.
