Music From Up & Coming Artists You Have To Listen #4

Headhunterz – Lift Me Up (Axero Remix)

Landing through Ultra Music today, and continuing on from the success of the original, comes the Axero remix of Headhunterz’ ‘Lift Me Up.’ The highly respected dance producer first dropped this tune back in April of this year to critical acclaim, and now the Toulouse based Axero has restyled it.

With Mike Taylor’s vocals still oozing warmth and expression, this rework moves into laid back deep house territory, adding melodic layers via well-placed chimes and subtle synth sequences.

Axero shows great artistry with this one, keeping it fluid and uplifting with changing dynamics and rhythmical emphasis. If you were a fan of the original, be sure to give the Frenchman’s remake your attention.

Rowa Feat Haley Sheffield – Low

The rowa project is the brainchild of Edgar Vargas based in Atlanta, USA.

Edgar grew up in a musical home. His father sang traditional Venezuelan songs to him. He remembers from a very young age diving into various aspects of music from song writing, artistry, and sonic creativity and hasn’t looked back. There is no sound he has encountered that remains unexplored musically. His appetite for all things auditory has fueled a drive to creating a multi-layered experience that connects deepest human feelings to the most tangible sensory experience of sound.

Rebecca Black ft Sondrey – The Great Divide (So Sus Flip)

A word from the artist:

I reworked the new Rebecca Black song, The Great Divide. I really enjoyed the original track but I wanted to jazz it up into a style that would fit in my sets. It’s a future bass track most similar to a kinda Myrne or even Enschway style with fluttering saws but the second drop has a middle eastern vibe, that gives it a little bit of a twist of something different and exotic.

SAFIA – My Love Is Gone

Coming out through Virgin EMI on September 9th is the soulful, dazzlingly infectious ‘Internal’ LP from Australian trio SAFIA. It will be the collective’s debut album, landing after a whirlwind year of chart and live performance success.

The start of the year saw SAFIA drop ‘Embracing Me’, an EP packed with electronic goodness, and one that preceded a wealth of remixes from the likes of Hayden James Apres, Mazde and SoulCircuit. Just completing a string of European tour dates, they have already played a sold out headline show at London’s OSLO, supported Lorde on tour and shared a line up with Disclosure and Rudimental.

The ‘Internal’ LP spans twelve tracks in length and takes the listener of a majestic journey through varying sounds and styles. From the rhythmically charged, drum and synth-led ‘Zion’ to the lilting, tropical-edged ‘Together, Locked Safely’, SAFIA display an outstanding approach to production here, and this is an act that is only going to keep getting better.

Deafkulture – I Need A Forest Fire (Deafkulture Remix)

Word from the Artist:

I recently did a remix of ‘I Need A Forest Fire’ by James Blake feat. Bon Iver. The remix includes some unique sound design with emotional vocals recorded by myself as well some intricate synth work and drum patterns that make for an explosive but cathartic climax in the drop. Hope you like it 🙂

Vidorra – Get Down

Vidorra is a 17 y/o producer from Birmingham, UK. ‘Get Down’ shows influences from many cultures. The use of the Indian instrument ‘shehnai’ along with oriental flute melodies is contrasted by a dark, low lying bass line. The track is topped off by fast flowing rap vocals and vocal chops, along with switches between half and normal time to keep up excitement for listeners.

Melle Jute – Concrete (Ft. Pete Philly)

First single of ‘Maya Got Lost’ EP together with vocalist Pete Philly.

buMMer – Jaunt

buMMer brothers approached the production of electronic dance music and its related culture in 2013 after spending years with acoustic instruments; Marco is a drummer and Andrea used to play guitar and sing. Their own signature is a dark and gritty sound in contrast with bright and energy-filled patterns inspired by today’s electronic music scene. Their influences came out straight from different artists such as Alesia, The M Machine, Deadmau5, Gesaffelstein, Rezz, Aglory. Although they’re upcoming artist, buMMer have already played gigs in great clubs such as Magazzini Generali in Milan and Webster Hall’s Bassment Saturdays in NYC. In 2015 the single Uprising came out on the network label Brooklyn Fire – B Sides as the result of their bassy and sonic experimentation. Jaunt EP came out on Audiophile Live on May 16th 2016. Heavy synthetic Electro sounds are melted with acoustic and cinematic elements. The whole EP is characterized by an alternation of huge drops that could smash the dancefloor and ambient breakdowns. VIDEO: “Night falls on the city. Two figures wander through its streets led by a crazy purpose. There’s still much work to do to realize the oldest dream of man. It’s the last night: in the morning nothing will be the same.” Jaunt music video came along after a relation between buMMer and the beautiful city of Spoleto, central Italy, as well as a collaboration with qualified friends Alessandro Di Palma, Antonio Zingaro, Pietro Di Maggio and Raffaele Alicino. Here’s the full credits: Written by buMMer & Pietro Di Maggio Directed by buMMer & Alessandro Di Palma DOP Raffaele Alicino & Alessandro Di Palma Set Director: Antonio Zingaro Costume/Set Design: buMMer Editing: Alessandro Di Palma Color Correction: Raffaele Alicino Rotoscope

PURGE – Feel Your Love

This is the debut release from the faceless new American duo known as PURGE, who link up with NEST for two dark-tinged bass singles in “Feel Your Love” and “Hit Em”. Technically sound and sonically adventurous, PURGE’s maiden EP depicts a commitment to approaching bass music without bounds or constructs — a value the guys promise to appropriate to all output with the project moving forward.

Baytek – Change (ft. Ives)

Baytek’s career has taken a major turn following huge releases and remixes, all in the midst of numerous national tours. His heavy signature sound became infectious, and continues to spread like plague throughout clubs and playlists here at home and abroad. Baytek’s music consists of futuristic sounds and heavy bass, mixing a unique twist with deep house. Baytek is known as one of Australia’s most sought out acts. His current killer tune, ‘F**k What You’re Thinkin,’ reached number 9 in the Australian Aria Club Tracks Chart.

SMiTHMUSiX – Flip That Pigeon (ft. Ladee Lush)

Flipping Pigeons: “A form of bird calling that warns a gang that the police are in an area. Causes them to flock in the air, visible to many around.” – Urban Dictionary

SMiTHMUSiX aka Stickman releases his debut EP with Stickman Recordings, the ’Stick It To The Man EP’. A view on today’s music by a creative mind, exploring and combining different genres, high level sound design with unique features by talented artists Ladee Lush and Ratigan.

“All of the tracks are different from each other, but still find a way to coexist in the form of sound. With this EP I’m exploring human feelings which I find extraordinary: excitement, fear, power, happiness, joy and many more – to understand the human race better, so that when I go back home – I’ll be able to inform my species what life is about, on Earth… not that I’m gonna write a book or anything, it’ll just make for one hell of a “Alien Facebook” Post, namean :)” – SMiTHMUSiX aka Stickman
