Is it bad to target a large audience ?

Starting with the word “No Offense”.

We all have came across peoples telling that they hate Future Bass but love Illenium, as if Illenium is producing house music. It’s simply the mindset one is driven to, not the genre.

Many artists such as Martin Garrix, DVBBS , R3hab has recently switched to producing commercial music or so called future bass, what for?
Some say for money!
It’s true that there’s lot of revenue involved in it but good things (production in this case) comes with great cost. A good track combines work of many say composer, lyricist, vocalist and melody writer all getting a pie of the revenue, further the revenue is shared by the label & management as they do the marketing of it and finally the remains goes to the production artist.

So money is definitely not the reason our stardom artists are producing POP, it’s the reach they are getting from it. As per an artistic view they want there music to reach masses and not to be bound to a genre based fan-base. There’s lot of experimentation in dance music industry and a lot of next gen artists are trying it out and that’s what makes them an “Artist” , no doubt future bass and POP electronic fusion is charting and a large audience prefers it and there’s nothing wrong to produce something which is widely preferred.

On the other hand any content failure should not be pointed at the genre but the artists themselves. It’s their choice whether they want to blatantly cash in on a sound they are not used producing to but is currently popular even though they are established in their own genres.

One may or may not like the new sound of his favorite artist but that’s not the criteria to judge the talent.
Music is personal, you like a certain genre or track because of how it makes you feel, how it sounds to you.. if you get that by listening to future bass, would not mean others do, and that includes all genres in music.

Enjoy the music 🙂 :
