Kove – L.Y.L.

Kove is back with the latest installment of his club-focused EP series, ‘Nightfires’. Using the series to delve deeper into a pure, musical sound, Kove says of his latest EP, “I wanted to take inspiration from my rock roots, trying to play as many parts as possible on the guitar or bass, and bringing more aggression into the tunes. I’ve also tried to branch out lyrically, incorporating some darker themes. “

‘Nightfires Vol.1’, landed with a bang back in April and gained strong, specialist support across BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra. ‘Vol. 2’ out in August, kicks off with ‘Into the Fire’ as premiered by DJ Target on 1Xtra and UKF last week. Described by Kove as “one of the darkest tunes I’ve written,” and featuring the haunting vocals of Folly Rae, the track takes its inspiration from a post-apocalyptic world. It balances blues with rock-style guitar, which are meshed with melodic drum and bass, making for a formidable listen.

‘Bring Me To Life’ ft. Jonny Fears is a dance floor-filler. Setting up with a dramatic atmosphere and powerfully sweeping, brooding chords on the intro, it descends into rock-edged, anthemic fire from the drop; stadium-sized vocal energy with Zeppelin-esque inspired electrifying guitar riffs, an epic drum and bass/rock fusion.

‘Jericho’ takes the tempo down as the EP’s first house cut and piles on the biblical references, stripping vocals away to keep emphasis on its boldly rhythmical use of horns throughout – keeping the sound clean and exacting.

Closing track ‘L.Y.L’ is another riff-heavy tune, with a profound sense of gritty groove to the bassline and a juxtaposing euphoric vocal hook that calls out for dance-floor attention.

‘Nightfires Vol.2’ is further evidence of Kove’s unique and breath-taking diversity, a talent who continues to defy musical boundaries and garner widespread support from his peers.

D-Wayne – Love Again

“D-Wayne has had an astronomical music career.” – DJ MAG

“Afrojack’s list of protégés already includes Quintino and R3hab. But there’s a new Dutchman waiting in the wings now: D-Wayne.” – BILLBOARD

As success stories go, D-Wayne’s one really is a page-turner. Having been picked up a few years ago by Wall Recordings boss and world-renowned DJ/producer, Afrojack, the young Dutchman has gone from strength to strength.

Having worked closely with Afrojack since his fateful signing, D-Wayne, better known to his friends as Dwayne Megens, co-produced a track on the boss man’s 2014 album Forget the World. But it’s his solo productions which have been gaining heat, as a series of releases on Wall Recordings has given rise to a hectic touring schedule and remix requests from some of the biggest artists on earth.

Now D-Wayne is ready to drop arguably his biggest single to date. An incredible team up with previous collaborator Jack McManus, Love Again is an uplifting and euphoric piece of dance music that’s set to storm radio and Spotify playlists when it’s released on 23rd September.
