Music From Up & Coming Artists You Have To Listen #3

Texas Drew – DJ Snake – 4 Life Remix

Drew Gilbert, better known as Texas Drew, is an American hip-hop and electronic producer from Dallas, Texas. Gilbert began performing as a drummer and percussionist, marching for a World Championship, WGI percussion ensemble. He would become the youngest member to make the All Area Concert Ensemble in the Southern Region of America. Gilbert was awarded a full ride scholarship to Berklee College of Music where he began pursuing production exclusively.

Lilt – Wait No More

Wait No More is the brand new single from Australian electronic act Lilt. Released on Friday 26th of August, with an accompanying film clip due for release on Fri Sept 3.

In July, Lilt made their way over to Sydney to record the much anticipated follow up to their debut EP at The Grove Studios with Scott Horscroft; (Empire Of The Sun, The Presets, Alison Wonderland).

The new single “Wait No More” encapsulates Lilt’s driving intensity – visceral, bass heavy and immense. Louise Penman’s powerful and soaring vocals are reminiscent of Florence Welch and London Grammar’s Hannah Reid and are perfectly complimented by Matt Mclean’s textural synthetic production and the dynamic energy of Brett Walsh’s live/electronic drums.

Fresh off supporting international star Melanie Martinez and gathering rave reviews, Lilt are set for a dominating 2016.

Ryos – Thomas Hayden, Mr Saccardo – Burn (Ft. Elly Ray) (Ryos Remix)

Ryos, at only 17-years-old, has crafted a remarkable start to his ever-bourgeoning career as a DJ/producer with a slew of high-octane releases on noteworthy imprints including Spinnin, Revealed and Enhanced Music. The young New Yorker’s emphasis on melodies, both spirited and moving, has not only shed light on his immaculate productions but lifted them from the competitive dance music space.

He returns with an official remix of Thomas Hayden and Mr. Saccardo’s single, “Burn” featuring Elly Ray. The production opens up to a delicate piano sequence that’s intertwined with ambient pads and Ray’s warm vocals. Rather than opting for one of his signature progressive house drops, he gradually sneaks in a house-inspired bass line that soon becomes the centerpiece of the soundscape. The drop exudes a dark and moody mystique that captures a brand new side to Ryos’ talent. His refreshing remix is available as a free download on CLUTCH Records. Enjoy!

Dead Space – Feel

In just a short time, Dead Space (better known as Steven Brantley) has built his music career from the ground up and is becoming an act that refuses to be ignored. From techno to tech-house, and everything in between, Dead Space’s unique sound is making a splash that is catching the ears of numerous individuals.

From releasing on over fifteen influential dance music labels, to garnering support from some of the industry’s most influential artists, landing top placement on multiple music distribution sites (features on Beatport, Spotify, and top charts on Traxsource), and even winning the Insomniac Events Discovery project to play the main stage at EDC New York in 2014; Dead Space is undoubtingly going to continue making serious waves in the dance music scene. Steven has racked up releases on impressive labels such as Toolroom Records, Insomniac, Audiophile Records, and Great Stuff Recordings to name a few. His latest release on the Bodhi Collective (co-produced with Chay), titled “Baby Bird”, has received strong support within the industry collecting approximately 14k plays on Soundcloud in just 2 days’ time. Additionally, Dead Space’s music has gained support from the likes of industry titans, such as: Claude Von Stroke, Mark Knight, Pasquele Rotella, Chris Fortier, and Loco Jam.

Steven consistently pumps out compositions like a machine, making tracks left and right; while continuing to maintain an extremely healthy home life, alongside his three beautiful daughters and his wife Cameron. Balancing his time as a father, husband, DJ/producer, and full time employee continues to keep him driven, and is simply one piece of what makes up the man behind the production.

Furthermore, when it comes to expressing his passion for the music that he creates and the culture that surrounds it, Dead Space keeps it about as real as it gets. In an interview with Insomniac Events, Steven mentions, “For the dance culture, it always weeds itself out and the trend followers and clueless cats will always move on and the ones who truly love the music will always keep listening to techno or other forms of actual dance music. I say it that way because there is a difference between “jumping” and actually dancing” (Insomniac). Dead Space plans on giving people something to dance about for some time to come.

Flipping Pigeons: “A form of bird calling that warns a gang that the police are in an area. Causes them to flock in the air, visible to many around.” – Urban Dictionary

Let LADEE LUSH and Myself take you into a high tension Robin Hood type of professional robbery situation to which the Police take questionable notice – fortunately we are warned by the flock of pigeons in the air created by locals, that we need to wrap it up and bounce – which we did, and we are counting the profits as we speak  (just kidding, no need to call the PoPo). – SMiTHMUSiX aka Stickman.

Rei – The Chief’s Speech

New Zealand Hip Hop artist Rei is excited to bring to you his new single and accompanying music video, The Chief’s Speech. Rei’s 2nd NZ on Air funded single takes aim at ‘they’. ‘They is anyone who doubts you, who looks down on you for standing up and trying to make something of yourself. This song is all about having that chief mentality to overcome that kind of negativity.’ The fire and passion within this song is portrayed through the haka sample (also written by Rei) that plays throughout. This earth-trembling chant mixed with hard-hitting Hip Hop production and Rei’s melodic, confrontational vocals creates something never before heard in Hip Hop. The music video, shot entirely in reverse was a challenging project in which Rei had to learn all of his lyrics back to front. ‘It was like learning Russian’ says Rei. The Chief’s Speech is the second single from Rei’s debut studio album A Place To Stand due for release November 2016.

Rebecca Black ft Sondrey – The Great Divide (So Sus Flip)

 Few words from the talent:

“I reworked the new Rebecca Black song, The Great Divide. I really enjoyed the original track but I wanted to jazz it up into a style that would fit in my sets. It’s a future bass track most similar to a kinda Myrne or even Enschway style with fluttering saws but the second drop has a middle eastern vibe, that gives it a little bit of a twist of something different and exotic. ”
